La-Z-Boy Tukwila Loves Learning!

As many people residing in Tukwila already know, a new and improved Tukwila Library is in our near future. Construction is already underway for the 10,000 square-foot library that will include various meeting rooms, more library materials, technologically-superior computers, and creative spaces for children and teens.

The idea for a new Tukwila library began in 2012 (see the December 2012 preliminary designs) and the expected completion date is this November.  Perkins + Will are architects for this project and Edifice Construction are the contractors.  Perkins + Will  were established in 1935 and they were founded on the belief that design has the power to transform lives and enhance communities.  They have offices across the globe, including Seattle, and they were named among “The World’s Top 10 Most Innovative Companies in Architecture” by Fast Company in 2015.   Edifice Construction are contractors who see themselves as partners you can count on.  They pride themselves one working tirelessly, thoughtfully, and creatively on all of their projects.   They done work for UW Health Sciences, Antioch University, Alliance Packaging, and Lakeside School.

The forthcoming Tukwila Library will includes a number of substainable strategies including skylights, geothermal heating, a green roof, rain gardens, hydronic radiant heating and cooling, and more. The Tukwila School District has purchased the present Tukwila Library and will be using it to house their Technology and Maintenance/Operations Departments.

La-Z-Boy Tukwila appreciates the importance of learning and we encourage all of our LaZBoy Tukwila customers to check out the new Tukwila library in November!
